As originally conceived, the Center For Life Cycle Sciences provided keynote addresses for large conferences on personal and organizational change. We worked for many large associations, provided keynotes for annual conferences, presented to groups such as TEC, professional groups, e.g., The America Dental Association and their state and local affiliates, and even worked for the National Association of Vacuum Cleaner Manufacturers. But the clients began to ask, "Can you create a workshop around -"
-and all other manner of custom designed training programs. For each new training program designed and delivered, customers wanted replication… new customers appeared… etc.
So, the Center For Life Cycle Sciences became a professional speaking firm and training firm.
Then customers began to ask, "Can you come into the organization and make some of these things you talk about happen in our organization?" A consultancy was born!
Often the request was, "We just want some knowledge from the outside, can you help us?"
Sometimes the request was to do something specific, e.g., help us “create a process culture;” help us understand transformational change; help us build visionary, effective, collaborative senior teams to guide and facilitate the organization; help us create and implement a strategic vision; help us create a “collaborative culture.”
Increasingly the requests became, "Help us create an organization that can adapt, anticipate change, and respond to a changing environment."
None of these requests could be satisfied in isolation… each request required a comprehensive analysis of the needs of the organization, insight into the motives and capabilities of the leadership, the present and future needs of the enterprise, the capabilities of the workforce, the effective functioning of existing groups and teams, and the “envisioned future.”
